Cardiff City player ratings v Swansea City as Callum Robinson ruins derby with idiotic red card and defender has horror game

Ryan Allsop 6

Made a couple of cracking stops, most notably from Ben Cabango's rasping effort in the second half. Was generally very good with his feet, too, to his credit, and couldn't really do any more with either goal.

Tom Sang 7

Worked his socks off on that right-hand side. Had one stupendous volley saved by Steven Benda's fingertips, too, that would have been some goal. Gave as good as he got with his opposite number and can most certainly hold his head up high.

Cedric Kipre 4

Got away with a blatant handball inside the penalty area in the first half, which was a moment of uncharacteristic madness from him. Had to sprawl often in defence with Swansea on top. Lost his man when Michael Obafemi scored the second.

Curtis Nelson 5

Largely did OK, very little you can throw at him in terms of blame for the goals. Cardiff do lose a bit of footballing ability with him in the side, though. Needed his aerial presence on a couple of occasions.

Niels Nkounkou 3

Just too many defensive mistakes creeping into his game to justify his spot at the minute. His botched clearance led to Ollie Cooper opening the scoring and Swansea had a lot of joy down his flank most of the afternoon.

Ryan Wintle 5

A quiet afternoon for the midfielder, who generally dictates the play in the middle of the park, but he really struggled to influence proceedings at all. Ball bypassed him quite often.

Andy Rinomhota 5

Another who ran his heart out chasing balls down, even when he had to move out to the wing after Robinson's red card. But he, too, saw very little of the ball and failed to add much to the attack.

Joe Ralls 5

Started the game really well, flying into tackles and making things difficult for the Swansea midfielders. He dropped off a little after the red card as the game started to pass him by a little.

Callum O'Dowda 8 (star man)

Was Cardiff's out ball at the start of the match and looked to be getting the better of Joel Latibeaudiere. Was Cardiff's most likely attacking outlet, even when they went down to 10. One who can hold his head high after that performance.

Callum Robinson 1

Sent off in the seventh minute in a derby for throwing a ball at an opposition player. Unacceptable. Idiotic and petulant. Should have known better, being such an experienced player. Ruined the match after Cardiff had started so well. No excuse.

Sheyi Ojo 4

Failed to really make an impact in the game and was rightly hooked at half-time. Just flattering to deceive the last few weeks, Cardiff need him to be on it more often than not with Robinson now out for the next three games, too.

Subs

Mark Harris (Ojo 45) 5 - Fed off scraps after his introduction. Nothing really seemed to come off for him, despite being a willing runner.

Gavin Whyte (Rinomhota 74) 5 - Didn't really impact the game after his introduction. Defensively he worked hard, though, and put in a few decent tackles.

Kion Etete (O'Dowda 83) NA - Not on long enough to make a difference.
