Cardiff City offer to pay for damage after fans trash Bristol City toilets following derby defeat

Cardiff City have offered to pay for damage after supporters trashed the toilets in the away end at Ashton Gate following defeat to Bristol City in the Severnside derby on Saturday.

It was a sorry day for the club on and off the pitch, with Steve Morison's men going down 3-2 against their rivals.

And events away from the field left an even more sour taste in the mouth, with a very small section of mindless fans taking out their frustrations by wrecking the facilities at the stadium.

Cardiff had close on 2,500 supporters at the match and they roared on their team throughout the 90 minutes, deserving much better than the dire second half performance produced by Morison's team.

Most were impeccably behaved.. However, Cardiff say that they are extremely disappointed by the actions of a minority at Ashton Gate and are assisting Bristol and the police in their enquiries and hope that the perpetrators will be held accountable for their actions.

Photos circulated on social media on Saturday night showing the damage to both the male and female toilets in the Atyeo Stand where the away fans were housed.

A Bristol City spokesperson confirmed to our colleagues at BristolLive that the damage was done by Bluebirds supporters. They also report that the Robins will be reviewing CCTV footage.

Debris can be seen on the floor and panels pulled from the ceiling of the toilets at Ashton Gate (Twitter)

The photos doing the rounds on Twitter show panels ripped from the ceilings and walls, with wires hanging down and insulation lying on the floor.

In an effort to make amends for a minority of fans, Cardiff have offered to foot the bill for repairs at Ashton Gate and have been in direct contact with the Robins about the cost of damage.
