Cardiff City noon transfer headlines as medical booked in for striker and Man City in talks with Bluebirds youngster

Here is your 12pm transfer deadline day update for Cardiff City.

Sory Kaba deal moves closer

Cardiff City are closing in on a short-term loan deal for FC Midtylland striker Sory Kaba.

WalesOnline learned last night that Kaba had become available after they thought the door had closed on their chase for the forward on the weekend.

However, it looks as though the Kaba deal is close, with the club having booked in a medical later on this evening for the Guinea international.

It is understood that Kaba, 27, has been on the Bluebirds' radar for some time. The striker stands at 6ft 3in and is believed to be strong in the air, an area Cardiff have lacked since the squad overhaul last summer.

Man City in talks with Bluebirds over keeper

Manchester City are in talks with Cardiff over signing 16-year-old goalkeeper Lewys Benjamin, we understand.

The shot-stopper was named on the bench for Cardiff against Leeds United in the first instalment of their FA Cup fourth-round tie at Cardiff City Stadium as a reward for his impressive displays in the Bluebirds' youth setup.

Darren Purse then gave him a chance to play for the under-21s and he impressed with a number of saves in the first half as he kept a clean sheet against Bristol City earlier this month.

Should a deal go through, he will join Gabriele Biancheri, the 16-year-old striker who is poised to sign for Manchester United, in moving up to Manchester.

It is understood that Cardiff are being remunerated considerably for both deals, should they go through, with big six-figure fees being offered for both talents.

Cardiff are a little bit powerless when it comes to selling their talents to big Premier League clubs, especially when such sizeable fees are tabled. If they are to sell, they want to get the best value in order to fund Cardiff's academy and its new site in Llanrumney.

The club have noticed a markedly higher number of Premier League scouts at their under-18s and under-21s matches this season, largely owing to the change in transfer rules which have been brought about by Brexit.

What else to expect today

The club are still keen on bringing in a left-back on deadline day.

They have whittled a shortlist down and have a couple of names they want to explore throughout the day and also want to be alert to the domino effect being brought about by other transfers in the Premier League and Championship.

At time of writing, nothing appears set in stone regarding the recruitment of a left-back, but we are told the club are actively in the market to bring in a left-sided defender today.

As for outgoings, there may be a couple of loans out - but they are likely to be from the under-21s.
