Cardiff City news as gifted young gun set for Man City medical and Sean Morrison dealt new hammer blow

Here's your round-up of all the latest news from the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff youngster set for Man City medical

Cardiff City youngster Lewys Benjamin is reportedly set to undergo a medical at Manchester City.

The promising goalkeeper is now poised to join the Premier League champions after batting away interest from several other interested parties.

Sources had confirmed to WalesOnline on deadline day that talks over a move to the Etihad Stadium had taken place, and it seems those discussions have now accelerated, with the Wales under-17 international set to link up as an academy player for the current league champions.

Sabri urges City to focus on the details

Sabri Lamouchi says he's already loving life in the capital, but insists he's fully aware of the challenges currently facing Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds are without a win in their last 12 games in all competitions heading into Saturday's trip to Hull City and Lamouchi believes his team need to place a greater focus on the finer details if they are to return to winning ways.

"It’s an unbelievable place," he said when asked about his first week in the job. "It’s a bad moment and bad situation but I’ve received a warm welcome from everyone.

"I really appreciate it. The club should be in another position but we have to change something. The results are what they are. Like the last one. I can’t complain about the players because they fight and they try.

"We compete. It’s difficult to play on the pitch at Luton. Maybe physically. Maybe mentally, we lost the game.

"The small details make the difference. We don’t have a lot of games, so we need to improve and be more focused. I want more quality. It’s not about quantity, it’s about the quality."

O'Dowda in contention for Tigers trip

Callum O'Dowda is in contention to feature for Cardiff City this weekend.

The winger missed Sabri Lamouchi's first game at Luton with a bug, but has since returned to training this week with the Cardiff boss confirming the Irishman is now in line to be involved.

Mahlon Romeo and Ebou Adams remain sidelined for the next couple of weeks, while Jamilu Collins is likewise a long-term absentee.

Morrison out for the rest of the season

Former Cardiff City defender Sean Morrison has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a thigh injury.

The centre-back signed for Rotherham after being released by the Bluebirds in January, and had impressed during his two appearances for Matt Taylor's side.

However, the 32-year-old's chances of making an impression in the Championship again have been dealt a hammer blow.

"Unfortunately he's got a severe tear of his quad and he'll have an operation on Saturday. Your first thoughts are with the player," Taylor told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"He got through the games fantastically well, so for him to get this injury in training, just striking a ball, luck wasn't on our side. It's a real shame.

"Our thoughts are with Sean and we'll support him in any way we can."

Newcastle United loanee in Hull squad for Bluebirds visit

Karl Darlow is set to go straight into Hull City’s squad for Saturday’s home game with Cardiff City at the MKM Stadium, having completed a loan move from Newcastle this week.

According to our colleagues at Hull Live, he is likely to start from the bench, with Matt Ingram expected to keep his place in the starting XI.

Fellow new boy Malcolm Ebiowei has not trained this week, and is unlikely to be involved, but boss Liam Rosenior is set to welcome back Jacob Greaves for the home test with the Bluebirds.
