Here are your Cardiff City headlines for Saturday, February 18.
Biancheri issues statement after Man Utd switch
Cardiff City academy product Gabriele Biancheri has released a statement to confirm his time with the club has come to an end as he completes a switch to Manchester United.
The youngster, 16, will sign a professional deal in September when he turns 17. The striker was wanted by Chelsea last summer and has scored 17 goals and five assists in all age-grade football this season.
It is thought he will sign a four-year deal with the Red Devils.
"After more than nine years, my time with Cardiff has come to an end," Biancheri wrote on social media.
"I’d like to thank all of my coaches for helping me become the player and person I am today and to all my team-mates. I’ll forever be thankful for the opportunity I’ve had at this club."
Lamouchi's injury update
Both Callum O'Dowda and Callum Robinson had to leave the pitch early last night against Reading.
O'Dowda went down on more than one occasion and was eventually hauled off after the hour after putting in a stellar performance up until that point.
Robinson, meanwhile, looked out on his feet the last 10 minutes, clutching his hamstring before hobbling around in the final throes of the game.
Cardiff had already used their allotted substitutions, but chose to bring him off and finish the game with 10 on the pitch in fear of worsening the injury.
Asked about the two Callums' injuries, Lamouchi said after the match: "When you play three games in six days, of course you have some problems.
"But I don't think they are important problems. I hope!"
Pundits purr over Bluebirds
Pundits waxed lyrical about Cardiff and Romaine Sawyers following their 1-0 win over Reading on Friday night.
The Sky Sports panel of Jobi McAnuff and Jamie Mackie both appear to agree that the club have turned a corner under Sabri Lamouchi.
"He's been fantastic under Lamouchi. To get that goal so late, big credit to them," said former Bluebirds midfielder McAnuff.
"It shows a belief. There were probably times earlier in the season when they didn't believe that goal would come. We said how much more chances they are creating and how much more of a threat they are now.
"They were really unlucky to even get to that point (near the end of the match) without having taken the lead.
"Sawyers is going to be absolutely huge. You only have to look at what he's done in other parts of his career and what quality he really brings to the table. He's trying to control the tempo. That creativity he has. Popping up with the goal. He has been reinvigorated."
Mackie then waded in with his post-match analysis, saying: "They certainly deserved that win. There are plenty of teams near the bottom end of the table who will struggle to even create chances and that's the biggest problem.
"Obviously the toughest thing is actually converting them. But it's such a boost for the Cardiff City fans that they've got more of an identity in terms of how they are getting into those areas. We really saw that. They really deserved it.
"In Romaine Sawyers, he's always been, technically, a very good player at this level. It doesn't surprise me how he took his goal. He's got experience, leadership, that's invaluable for the position they find themselves in."
Kipre on Sol and McGuinness
Centre-back Cedric Kipre has opened up on his partnership with Mark McGuinness and the influence of first-team coach Sol Bamba.
Kipre has been one of the most consistent performers this season and has now been joined by the formidable McGuinness, fresh from his loan stint with Sheffield Wednesday, at the back, forming quite the imposing pairing.
Speaking about McGuinness, Kipre said: “Mark is good to play with. We haven’t played a lot together, but I think that we match well. He speaks to me all the time and for 90 minutes, I speak to him as well. I trust him and he trusts me, so it’s a good partnership.
“Sol is a very good guy for us to have him here. He gives us loads of advice. Of course, he was a centre-back and had a good career. We are from the same country as well, so he helps me a lot. I’m very happy to be working with him.”
Meanwhile, in the City programme last night, McGuinness said: "We've got some very good centre halves here, but I've been playing alongside Ced for the last couple of games and he's been great.
"He's solid and he's someone I enjoy working next to. We have a great relationship and we complement each other quite well.
"We've got a good balance between everyone, especially along that back line."
