Cardiff City are hopeful of getting a loan deal over the line for Midtylland striker Sory Kaba, WalesOnline has learned.
The Bluebirds are desperate to bolster their forward options on transfer deadline day and have been toiling tirelessly behind the scenes to add in that area of the pitch.
It is understood that Kaba, 27, has been on the Bluebirds' radar for some time. The striker stands at 6ft 3in and is believed to be strong in the air, an area Cardiff have lacked since the squad overhaul last summer.
Cardiff thought that a move for Kaba was off the cards over the weekend, however it is understood that within the last 12 hours they have been informed of his availability again and are hoping to swoop on the final day of the window.
Kaba is understood to have had interest elsewhere on the continent, but it appears the player's desire to play in the UK has put Cardiff right back in the frame.
The forward has three goals in 14 international games for Guinea. He has two goals in 27 games for Danish outfit Midtylland this season.
Kaba made his name in Spain at Elche, for whom he scored 24 goals in 64 games while they were in the Spanish second tier. He earned a move to Dijon in France in 2019 but struggled for game time and goals.
In Denmark, though, he helped the club to win the league in his first season and has been a key part of their strike force, scoring 26 goals in 102 outings for the club in total.
The striker also enjoyed a fruitful loan spell in Belgium with OH Leuven last season, netting 12 times in 29 outings.
