Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City headlines for Sunday, September 4.
Morison focused on performances
Steve Morison insists he is focusing on performances rather than results, but admits his Cardiff City side weren't good enough at Millwall on Saturday. Cardiff slumped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the Lions at The Den, and are now without a win in their last five games.
It is a run of form which will concern City fans, but Morison insists there are positives to take from recent games. He said: “I’m not worrying about the fact that we’ve only had two draws in our last five, we’re looking at performances. On the whole, [it] wasn’t good enough.
"For example, you can’t say that the Luton performance wasn’t good, because it was good and we lost the game. We need to get rid of this soft underbelly that we’ve got when we concede and fight back.
“There were chances for both sides. They had a couple of moments in the first half and we had a couple of moments in the second half. We hit the post and they go down the other end and score, so it’s a game of fine margins.
"Every game, while it’s 0-0, you’re in it and you have an opportunity, while it’s 1-0, you’re still in it, but the second goal is the most disappointing thing out of all of them.”
Robinson 'proud' to make Bluebirds debut
Callum Robinson has spoken of his pride at making his Cardiff City debut in the defeat to Millwall on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland international came on at half-time during Saturday's defeat to the Lions, his first appearance since completing a move from West Bromwich Albion. Robinson signed for a fee believed to be £1.5m during the final hours of the transfer window, and hopes are high that he can inject some much-needed incisiveness in the final third.
Taking to social media after the defeat to Millwall, he wrote: "Shame we couldn’t secure any points this afternoon but proud to have made my Cardiff debut. Thanks so much for your support. On to next week at home."
Cardiff City Women backed to challenge Swans for title
Cardiff City Women got their Adran Premier campaign off to a winning start by beating Pontypridd Town 2-0 on Sunday — and are being backed to seriously challenge reigning champions Swansea City Ladies for the league title this season.
On the opening weekend of the top domestic women's football competition in Wales, the Bluebirds took the lead at Leckwith courtesy of Danielle Broadhurst's strike after 23 minutes, before substitute Phoebie Poole wrapped up the win with a cool finish 18 minutes from time.
They next face last season's runners-up Cardiff Met next Sunday, September 11, next facing Abergavenny on September 18 before hosting Swansea on September 25.
Former Wales striker turned pundit Gwennan Harries has backed Cardiff, who finished third last term, to challenge title defenders Swansea this season. "Cardiff City will be right up there chasing for the title this year, in my opinion," she said. "They’ve really put a lot of investment in in time and money.
"Swansea have got the hold at the minute - reigning champions last year and for the last couple of seasons. Last year's Adran Premier was really exciting and competitive and I think it’ll be even more competitive this year. With the format and the way that it’s split, the top four and bottom four, it makes for real entertainment and everybody’s always got something to play for."
