Caravan bursts into flames on quiet Scots street as cops hunt fire starters

Dramatic pictures have captured the moment a caravan burst into flames on Scots road after it was set alight.

Emergency services were scrambled to Inchview in Prestonpans at around 8pm on Tuesday, March 8.

Two fire crews were drafted in to battle the inferno as photos from the scene show the flames taking hold of the motor.

An eyewitness said: "Caravan been set alight tonight at Inchview by four youths around 14/15 years old. All dressed in black as per.

"One on an electric scooter. Police and fire brigade on route.

"Caravan is surrounded by wooden garages, with cars inside and some for business use.

"If you use them I’d get down and remove what you can. There has just been an explosion."

No one was injured in the incident but cops have determined the blaze was started deliberately.

Police say they are investigating the incident, with anyone who has information urged to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a caravan on fire at Inchview in Prestonpans around 8.10pm on Tuesday, 8 March.

“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Nobody was injured but the caravan was extensively damaged.

“The fire is being treated as deliberate and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 3040 of 8 March.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 7.46pm on Tuesday, 8 March to reports of a fire affecting a caravan at Inchview, Prestonpans.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.

"There were no reported casualties."
