This is the wreckage left behind after a car was trashed by fire on a busy north Manchester road. Police and firefighters raced out to Factory Lane, in Harpurhey, at around 6pm today (June 16) as a Seat Leon was engulfed in flames.
Images from the scene show the dark-coloured car severely damaged from the incident, with the charred bodywork becoming a chalky grey towards the front of the vehicle. The Seat appears to have crashed into a fence, which also seems to have been charred by the fire.
Transport for Greater Manchester told motorists that part of Rochdale Road had been closed off at the junction with Factory Lane earlier this evening while police dealt with the incident. A spokesperson for Go North West confirmed the major route through north Manchester had reopened at around 7pm, when firefighters had left the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 6pm this evening (Thursday, June 16) firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle on fire on Factory Lane. Fire crews from Blackley fire station arrived quickly at the scene.
"Crews wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel to swiftly extinguish the fire before making the scene safe. GMFRS were in attendance for just over half an hour.”
Greater Manchester Police has been approached for comment.
