Car torched in Dundee as police hunt two men seen running from area

Police in Dundee have launched a probe after a car was touched in an arson attack.

The terrifying incident happened in St Kilda Road early on Thursday morning.

Officers are now hunting for two men - dressed in dark clothing - who were spotted running from the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesman told Dundee Live the incident - that involved a high-performance Audi - happened at 3am.

They added: “Enquiries carried out so far have established that two people, both dressed in dark clothing, were seen running from the vehicle.

“Officers will be checking any relevant CCTV footage from in and around the area for any additional information on the suspects.

“Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects is asked to call Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 0308 of 12 May, 2022.

“Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.”

The incident follows a number of other ecent firebomb attacks on vehicles in the city.

In February Dundee Live told how police launched an investigation after a vehicle was deliberately torched in a car park.

Two other cars were also affected by the blaze in Lochee.

Emergency crews sealed off the British Heart Foundation car park in Burnside Street just after 6am.

While just last month the owners of a car deliberately torched in the city said they were "spooked" by the seemingly random attack that destroyed their family runabout.

The red Nissan Note burst into flames in a case of what police are treating as wilful fire-raising.

Neighbours scurried to move their own cars out of the way as the flames consumed the car and torched a fence on Ashkirk Place.
