Car that had nothing right with it stopped for carrying bricks on its roof

An uninsured driver was stopped by police who spotted the old banger carrying such a heavy load of bricks the vehicle's roof began to cave in. Cops stopped the Toyota after it was seen with a pallet of building materials strapped to its roof.

In a photograph taken by police, the weight of the bricks seems to have broken the pallet they were balanced on. The run-down motor, which was covered in stickers, also had no registration plate on the front when it was pulled over in Ely, Cambridgeshire.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary said they struggled to see ‘anything right’ with the car. Sharing photos to Facebook, the force said: “Can anyone see anything right with this car? Us neither!”

Police said driver was reported for having no insurance, dangerous driving and carrying a dangerous load which was in a position likely to cause danger. One local replied: “This was funny until I read the bit about no insurance.

“If he had hurt somebody seriously there would have been no compensation to help them if they couldn’t work.

“Driving without insurance is as bad as drink driving in my opinion.”
