Car set on fire in driveway at Lanarkshire home

A car has been torched in a driveway at a Lanarkshire home.

Police are treating the incident as deliberate after the black Volvo XC90 was set alight late on Tuesday night.

Fire crews raced to the scene in Reen Place, Bothwell, at around 11.30pm on February 21 and put out the blaze.

Nobody was injured from the incident.

Cops are now appealing for information and are treating it as wilful fire raising.

Detective Constable Joe Todd told Lanarkshire Live: “We are treating this fire as wilful and our enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious before or after the incident to get in touch.

“In addition, if you were driving in the area please check any dash-cam footage for information that could help with our investigation. Likewise if you have private CCTV.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0054 of Wednesday, 22 February, 2023.
