Car set on fire causing damage to two vehicles and house

A CAR was set on fire causing damage to two vehicles and a house.

The incident happened at around 11.05pm on Thursday, January 30 when a car was torched on Carlisle Road in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire.

The blaze spread to another car and to the house, causing extensive damage to both vehicles and the property.

It was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

No one was injured but police said the occupants of the house have been left "very upset and frightened".

They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Andrew Sinclair said: "Fortunately no one was injured but the occupants were left very upset and frightened by what happened. "We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time to get in touch if they saw anything suspicious.

"In particular we are asking people to check their dash-cams to see if they have captured something that could assist with our investigation.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0024 of Friday, January 31.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
