The first stage of rebuilding Troon station is set to start next week.
Rail bosses are hoping to commence the installation of new canopies at the fire ravaged platform one.
Engineers are set to get to work to replace the iconic canopies that stood since the Victorian era before a devastating blaze in July 2021.
As a result of the major works Network Rail have been forced to shut down the car park adjacent to platform one.
The closure will be in place from Monday, June 26 with work set to start on Saturday, July 1.
The car park will be fully closed to vehicles and will remain closed until the completion of all works in summer 2024.
The car park will be used to establish a 'site compound', an area to assemble the station's new canopies and to site the crane that will lift them into position.
Replacing the station canopies will be the first stage of the work to replace the building at platform one.
Plans for the new station were secured after residents aired their views on three concepts, opting for a rebuild of the historic building lost to the fire.
Helen Agnew, Network Rail’s project lead for Troon station said: “The canopy installation at Troon station is a vital part of the station redevelopment and the closure of the car park is unavoidable to enable safe access to the site.
“While we understand the short-term impact of this work is inconvenient, the long-term benefit will be a new, modern station building with improved facilities that will serve residents of, and visitors to, the town and will enhance the community for many years to come.
“Thank you to everyone for their understanding and patience while we work to deliver the new and improved station.”
The work will commence on Saturday, July 1 between 11pm and 7am and will continue for 15 weeks on Saturday nightshifts and on weekdays between 8am and 6pm.
