Car mounts footpath in Dublin shopping centre destroying bike rack and trolley bay

A car mounted a footpath at a Dublin shopping centre yesterday, destroying both a trolley bay and a bike rack in the process.

The incident took place at the Square shopping centre in Tallaght just before lunchtime.

Debris from the crash could be seen strewn all over the Tesco car park on the second level of the shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon.

One onlooker who witnessed the collision explained to Dublin Live that the bike rack that was crushed stayed taped off after the incident had occurred, adding that there were no other signs of damage in the car park.

Currently, it is unknown what led to the incident or if anyone sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

Dublin Fire Brigade also confirmed that firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene following the incident.

In a statement issued on Twitter, the fire brigade said: “Firefighter/paramedics from Tallaght fire station responded to a road traffic collision in a car park earlier today.

“A trolley bay and bike rack were damaged and the scene was made safe by crews at the incident."
