Two women have been rushed to hospital after the car they were travelling in crashed and landed on the central reservation of the M8 near Eurocentral.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the eastbound carriageway at 7.15pm on last night.
A picture from the scene shows the light-coloured vehicle lying on top of the crash barrier between junctions 6A and 7, reports the Daily Record.
A number of first response vehicles including ambulances and fire engines were also in attendance while temporary lane closures were put in place.
Police Scotland confirmed that two women were taken to hospital for treatment however the extent of their injuries and current conditions are unknown.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 7.15pm on Sunday, May 22, police were called to the M8 eastbound, between junctions 6A and 7, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.
“Two women were taken to hospital for treatment and the road was cleared around 9.10pm.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
