A car flipped over in a horrific car crash which closed a main road this morning.
The vehicle ended up on its roof after the early morning smash on the A59 Moss Lane in Burscough .
Emergency service, including police, fire and ambulance were called the the scene at around 4am.
Police cordoned off the road between Sluice Lane to Red Cat Lane while firefighters battled to free two people trapped in a car.
Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, an advanced paramedic and a hazardous area response team were all sent to the scene.
Lancashire Police are yet to confirm the condition of the victims, however two people were taken to hospital.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We were called by the ambulance service at ten past four this morning to Moss Lane in Burscough.
“There were reports that a number of vehicles had collided with at least one vehicle on its roof.
“We attended the scene and the road was closed from Red Cat Lane to Rufford.
“It is still closed.
“Some people have been injured but it’s too soon to provide any more details at this moment.”
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Spokesman said: “We attended an RTC at 4:05am. We sent two fire engines from Ormskirk.
“There were casualties involved who we have helped free from the vehicles.
“We were on the scene for two hours and left at around 6:20am”
