Car flips on to its roof after crash in Newport

Two people attended hospital after a crash in Newport which left a car flipped on its roof. Emergency services were called to a collision between two cars on Ffos y Fran Close, Bassaleg, at around 8.45pm on Tuesday, July 5.

Officers attended to assist with traffic management while the accident, which took place close to the Ruperra Arms pub on Caerphilly Road, was cleared. A 21-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman attended hospital as a precaution. Their injuries are not understood to be serious and the Welsh Ambulance Service did not attend the incident.

The incident took place near a bend in the road often cited by locals as dangerous, and where other accidents have previously occurred. Pictures from the scene show a silver car flipped on its roof along with a number of police cars in attendance. There have been a number of incidents on Newport roads in the past week. Last weekend police appealed for information after a stationary police vehicle was hit on the M4 junction 25 interchange roundabout at around 5.10pm on Saturday, July 1. A man was also taken to hospital following a crash between a van and a Land Rover on the M4 between junction 24 and 25 at around 7.30am on Sunday July 3. A statement from Gwent Police read: "We received a report of a road traffic collision on Ffos y Fran Close, Bassaleg at around 8.45pm on Tuesday, July 5.

"Officers attended to assist with traffic management and the collision involved two cars. A 21-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman attended hospital as a precaution."
