Car falls into Godavari canal in Konaseema; police rescue all 5 passengers

AMALAPURAM

The Allavaram police rescued five persons of the same family from a car that rammed into the retaining wall and fell into the Godavari canal at Chinta village of Konaseema district in Andhra Pradesh on January 15. They were travelling to the temple at Antarvedi.

The accident took place when the driver of the car lost control after he attempted to overtake a vehicle.

“Allavaram Sub-Inspector G. Harish Kumar witnessed the accident while he was on his way to the office and rescued the occupants of the car by jumping into the canal. Later, a few constables joined Mr. Kumar in the rescue operation,” said Amalapuram DSP M. Ambika Prasad. The victims survived with minor injuries.
