A car burst into flames in Bristol in the early hours of this morning (January 30), with the street lit up by the blaze. The fire reportedly broke out in a vehicle on Downend Road at around 4am. The cause of the fire is believed to be 'accidental'.
Videos and photos from a nearby resident show the vehicle entirely engulfed in flames and the surrounding properties lit up by the fire. Avon Fire and Rescue Service came to the scene in the early hours and, according to a witness, managed to fully extinguish the car.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 04:25 to reports of a car on fire on Downend Road, Horfield. One fire engine from Southmead and one from Temple fire station attended and found two cars on fire.
"Crews used two high pressure hose reels, one 45mm jet and two dry powder extinguishers to put out the fire, with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus for safety. The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental ignition."
Videos show the fire in progress, with the entirety of the vehicle consumed by the flames. Accompanying pictures show fire crews on the scene trying to quell it, with a nearby observer applauding the "sterling" job they did in handling the scene.
