A driver has been taken to hospital after colliding with a roundabout at high speed. Emergency services were called to the A46/A17 roundabout in Newark at around 2:40am on Friday, May 5.
The vehicle had collided with the roundabout and caught fire. A man escaped the vehicle and was transported to hospital by ambulance to treat his injuries which are believed to be minor.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the A46/A17 roundabout in Newark, at around 2.40am on Friday (5 May 2023), following reports of a road collision involving one car. The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries.

“Inquiries are still ongoing into this incident, so we’d ask anyone who witnessed what happened to call the police on 101, quoting incident 59 of 5 May 2023.”
A Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson added: " We were called on Friday 5 May at 2:37am to a road traffic collision on Winthorpe Roundabout in Newark. Newark and Collingham fire crews attended the incident.
"A car had collided with the roundabout at high-speed causing the vehicle to catch fire. A man escaped the vehicle with minor injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance."
