A car has burst into flames on a busy Fife road during the morning rush hour. Emergency services rushed to the A915 Standing Stane Road following reports of a vehicle fire at around 8.36am on Monday, February 20.
One fire appliance was mobilised and the blaze was extinguished. Firefighters remain at the scene as they work to secure the area.
There are not believed to be any injuries. Images from the scene show orange flames engulfing the black Vauxhall Corsa which has stopped in a lay-by.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.36am on Monday, 20 February to reports of a car on fire on the A915, Standing Stane Road. Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene where firefighters extinguished one vehicle which was well alight.
"There are no reported casualties. Crews remain in attendance whilst they work to make the area safe.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40am on Monday, 20 February, 2023 officers were called to a vehicle fire on Standing Stane Road, Buckhaven.
“There were no injuries and the vehicle was recovered around 10am.
“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
