Emergency services raced to the scene of a high speed crash in Glasgow's east end in the early hours of this morning.
The crash, which took place on the Gallowgate near to the junction with Bellgrove Street, saw a car burst into flames and sent plumes of smoke pouring into the night sky.
Concerned residents mistook the road traffic collision - which took place not long after midnight - for a house or gas explosion due to the noise made by the impact of the smash.
