'Captain America' Stars Anthony Mackie & Danny Ramirez on How 'Brave New World' Will Change Marvel Forever - INTERVIEW

En español

Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez have been traveling the world promoting their newest film 'Captain America: Brave New World.' They've spent years filming the adventures of their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters, and their chemistry is undeniable. More than that, they share a determination to showcase what two men like them can bring to the superhero world.

While this may sound arrogant, they are certainly about to change everything.

With 'Brave New World,' Mackie takes on the mantle of Captain America for the first time, while Ramírez spreads his wings as Joaquín Torres, the new Falcon. But this isn't just another superhero movie.

This film is set to redefine what it means to be Captain America in a world where easy answers no longer exist. It's a political thriller, a generational shift, and a statement about leadership and who has the right to wield power. For Mackie and Ramírez, this is more than fiction—it's personal, as they revealed in an interview with ENSTARZ ¡Latino!.

A Captain America without superpowers

Mackie exudes the effortless confidence of someone who knows he's the coolest guy in the room. But when he talks about Sam Wilson, his tone shifts.

"He was always meant to be a representative of the common man," Mackie says. "Even when he became Captain America. He was every man's Captain America because he didn't take the serum."

That's the key difference between Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers. No superhuman strength, no enhanced reflexes—just strategy, guts, and the unshakable moral compass that makes Captain America who he is.

And in 'Brave New World,' that determination will be tested like never before.

Harrison Ford joins the MCU replacing the late William Hurt as President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, a man harboring more than a few secrets—including his transformation into Red Hulk.

Joaquín Torres: from buddy to hero

Danny Ramírez knows he has something special with Joaquín Torres. In the comics, Torres is bold, charismatic, and fights for the forgotten—especially undocumented immigrants.

For Ramírez, playing him isn't just another role. It's a reflection of real-life stories.

"I already did my homework and trust that my culture would speak for itself," Ramírez says.

In the Marvel miniseries 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,' Torres was just finding his footing. Now, he's Falcon. And with Sam Wilson carrying the shield, Torres must carve his path—one defined by his heritage, energy, and fire.

"Well, from the comics themselves, I brought his energy," Ramírez says. "He was witty, he has a smooth tongue. He was hitting on everybody."

'Captain America: Brave New World'

'Brave New World' is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. In this latest chapter, Sam Wilson, played by Mackie, has fully embraced the mantle of Captain America.

After meeting with newly-elected President Ross, Sam finds himself caught in an international crisis. He must uncover the truth behind a global conspiracy before the real mastermind makes the world see red.

Directed by Julius Onah, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Blake Nelson, and Liv Tyler. Additionally, Red Hulk—Ross's monstrous alter ego—is expected to make his debut.

'Brave New World; aims to explore complex political and social themes while maintaining a superhero tone. It will dive into Sam Wilson's responsibilities as the new Captain America and the global threats that challenge his leadership.

With this film, Marvel Studios continues to evolve its characters, tackling power dynamics in an increasingly complicated world.
