Captain America: Brave New World release date, cast, trailer, and everything else you need to know about the new Marvel movie

Anthony Mackie in Captain America: Brave New World.

Are you ready to Hulk out? Good, because Captain America: Brave New World will soon hit screens, with Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson wielding the shield. That's right, the one-time Falcon (and new Captain America) is back.

The film will kick off Marvel’s action-packed 2025 slate, taking the reigns from the 2024 smash hit Deadpool and Wolverine and witchy Disney Plus show Agatha All Along. But despite being the fourth dedicated Captain America movie overall, the film will introduce some new stars and characters to the MCU, including Indiana Jones himself Harrison Ford, but more on that later.

There is so much to find out about the next chapter in Marvel Phase 5, that’s why we've rounded up everything you need to know about Captain America: Brave New World AKA one of the most exciting upcoming superhero movies. So what are you waiting for? Read on for details on the release date, the trailer, the cast, and everything else you need to know about the new film.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to arrive on February 14, 2025. That makes it the perfect date movie, and better yet, it means we only have a few months left to wait.

Captain America: Brave New World trailer

So far, there is just one trailer for Captain America: Brave New World. The footage, which you can watch above, shows Sam Wilson meeting with President Thunderbolt Ross. Ross tasks him with forming the new Avengers, and Ross is also attacked by Isaiah Bradley. We get only a glimpse of him in Red Hulk mode, though, some additional footage was screened during D23 that gave a better look at Harrison Ford's transformation.

The Captain America: Brave New World cast is a mix of familiar and new faces. Of course, Anthony Mackie is back to suit up as The Falcon once again, alongside Danny Ramirez's Joaquín Torres. There are some new faces though, from Giancarlo Esposito to Harrison Ford, who plays The Red Hulk.

At SDCC24 it was confirmed that Esposito's villain, which the star he had been teasing for months, is in fact Seth Voelker AKA Sidewinder. In an interview with GamesRadar+, Esposito revealed he did some in-depth comic book studying to prepare for the role.   "Well, you know, in the research I've done when I knew that I was going to be playing the head of the Serpent Society, someone who formed it and runs it, I wanted to know more," he said. "I wanted to go back [and] figure out what are his colors, what do they look like, what do they do, what are his superpowers?"

For the rest of the cast, here are the main players:

  • Anthony Mackie – Sam Wilson/Captain America
  • Harrison Ford – President Ross/Red Hulk
  • Danny Ramirez – Joaquin Torres/Falcon
  • Carl Lumbly – Isaiah Bradley
  • Giancarlo Esposito – Sidewinder
  • Shira Haas – Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra
  • Liv Tyler – Betty Ross
  • Tim Blake Nelson –  Samuel Sterns/The Leader
  • Rosa Salazar – TBC

It also looks like Mark Ruffalo might be appearing as the Hulk, though that's not confirmed just yet

Captain America: Brave New World plot

Captain America: Brave New World picks up after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which ended with Sam Wilson finally accepting the mantle of Captain America – setting us up for Captain America 4. His friendship with Joaquin Torres, the future Falcon, was also established in the Disney Plus show.

Specifics on Cap 4 are scarce at the moment, but it's clear that it's going to have some significant crossover with the world of the Hulk. For one thing, we're going to see Harrison Ford as the Red Hulk, and there are multiple characters returning from The Incredible Hulk. How that's going to work remains to be seen, though.

Then, Giancarlo Esposito is one of the villains, appearing as Sidewinder – King of the Serpent Society. How that will factor into the fourquel is also a mystery for now.
