Caoimhin Kelleher makes Liverpool future admission ahead of Carabao Cup final

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is in no rush to leave Anfield in order to become a number one elsewhere.

The 23-year-old is set to start Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea in what will be his eighth appearance for the Reds in all competitions so far this season.

With Alisson Becker firmly Liverpool's number one, and contracted until 2027, regular game time will be hard to come by for the Republic of Ireland international.

For now, Kelleher is satisfied with his position in the squad and is in no rush to make a decision on his future.

"I don't really think too much about that at the minute," he told The Telegraph.

"I've a cup final to look forward to, and other games as well. I'm just focusing on them and trying to be the best I can in those games.

"If I do well and perform well we can look at what is next for me but at the minute I just want to keep performing well this season and see where that takes me.

"Then at the end of the season see what the next plan is."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has already confirmed that Kelleher will be starting the Carabao Cup final ahead of Alisson this weekend.

He played three of the five games on the road to Wembley against Norwich, Leicester and the second leg of the semi-final against Arsenal.

Klopp said this week : “Caoimh is an exceptional goalkeeper and we want to keep him here. And for that, he needs games.

"These games are his competition, and there’s no chance of him not playing.”
