The "National Herbs Expo" is back with a mission to help boost the economy, at Impact Exhibition Hall 11-12, Muang Thong Thani, from today until Sunday, from 10am to 8pm.
Organised by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine and its network, this is the 19th edition of the annual expo, which focuses on the theme "Growing Thai Economy With Thai Marijuana, Thai Massage And Thai Food".
The five-day event is packed with many activities, including a showcase of research and innovative herbal products by SMEs, an exhibition on beauty and cosmetic wellness, and an exhibition on "Ganja Unesco World Integral Heritage". Visitors will learn how to turn Thai food into medicine, witness demonstrations by traditional Thai medicine doctors, shop for local products from all four regions, learn about various types of Thai massage and enjoy food and beverages developed from local wisdom.
Practitioners of Thai traditional and alternative medicines are there to offer complimentary medical check-ups and healthcare counselling while a range of quality herbal products are available for sale.
Expect to see innovations by Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital such as cannabis oil for pain, turmeric for psoriasis, and Thai-style probiotic food including fermented vegetables and Thai sweet fermented rice. Highlights include marijuana products and a demonstration of cannabis test kits by the Department of Medical Sciences; and an introduction of medical cannabis products that are on the List of Herbal Medicinal Products and new hemp products by the Government Pharmaceutical Organization.
Besides business matching and negotiations, there are also conferences and symposiums today and tomorrow, as well as complimentary training courses on Friday and Saturday, at Phoenix Room 2-6.
Fun games with prizes are presented and seedlings, saplings and herbal products will be given away.
