A cannabis farm, weapons and a number of drugs were found by police this week following a sweep across Tyldesley and Atherton. Three arrests have been made in connection with drug offences and one charge was brought, Greater Manchester Police have said.
The Tyldesley and Atherton Neighbourhood Team have been conducting high visibility patrol and enforcement around the Poplar Street and Lever Street area of Tyldesley in response to reports of antisocial behaviour and criminality. Power tools, airsoft rifles, Class A and B drugs have been seized across the week.
GMP Leigh, Atherton & Hindley said in a social media post: “On Monday, June 27 a warrant was executed by the team at Oak St, Tyldesley. The address was unoccupied; however, the remains of a cannabis farm were located in the attic.

“We are following up enquiries with the owner. On Friday, July 1 the team executed a warrant on Prospect Street, Tyldesley.
“A quantity of drugs was located and a male adult was arrested and later charged with possession of Class B drugs.
“PCSOs conducted a weapon sweep at the rear of Poplar Street flats and located a number of power tools, suspected to be stolen property, and a two-tone Airsoft rifle. “These have been recovered and booked into our property system. “On Saturday, July 2 the team executed warrants at Poplar Street flats and nearby allotments. A quantity of drugs were located and a male and female were arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.
“The male was also arrested for breach of a Domestic Violence Protection Order. Further enforcement action is planned for the perpetrators of ASB and criminality in this area.
“This type of activity is only possible with the support of the public and information we receive, whether that be directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers. Please continue to report incidents and provide information so we can take the necessary action.
“The team have also continued to conduct night patrols in response to an increase in burglaries reported around the Astley area which has included positive stop searches, visits to target offenders, plain clothes and high visibility patrolling, locating and recovering stolen motor vehicles.”
