Nine arrests have been made and a cannabis farm has been uncovered as part of a major police crackdown day in Bolton.
Hundreds of officers are working on a huge operation in the borough today (June 30) in a bid to target the criminals 'who cause the most harm' in the community. Early morning raids were carried out with officers bursting through doors before dawn.
So far, nine people have been arrested as part of Operation Avro. Some of these arrests stemmed from warrants on properties on Pole Street in Tonge Moor and on Chorley Old Road, police said.

A cannabis farm was also uncovered on Harroby Street in Farnworth. Officers seized the plants and 'disrupted' the operation.
More arrests are expected to be made throughout the day, as police also target speeding drivers and carry out more drug-related raids. The operation is a force-wide initiative, running in a different district each month.
In May, samurai swords were seized and a £500,000 cannabis farm was busted as officers swooped on Bury. In April, a 'record-breaking' 63 arrests were made after GMP carried out their monthly crime 'blitz' in Rochdale.
This morning, GMP's acting district commander for Bolton, Steph Parker, said: "Operation Avro is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to the people of Bolton. We are listening to your concerns and we are acting on it. Over the next 24 hours, you will see multiple drug and evidence warrants being executed across the town.
"Speeding and dangerous drivers will be identified and targeted by us and dealt with appropriately. We will also take action on any person using any motor vehicle illegally or in an anti-social manner.
"Those vehicles will be seized and removed from the streets of Bolton. In summary, we are targeting those individuals that are causing us the most serious harm in our communities. We will get justice for you and the people of Bolton."
