Cannabis farm seized following reports of 'disturbance and possible burglary'

A cannabis farm has been seized after police were called to reports of a 'possible burglary'. Officers made the discovery on the first floor and in the loft space of a house in Atherton.

Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) Atherton neighbourhood team seized the plants and growing equipment from the home in Smith Street. Police then searched for weapons in a nearby alley.

A GMP spokesman said: "The Atherton Neighbourhood Team have attended an address on Smith Street, Atherton following a report of a disturbance and possible burglary at an address. Inside the address a cannabis farm was located on the first floor and loft space.

"The cannabis and equipment has been seized for destruction. A weapons sweep was also conducted in the surrounding area."
