Canelo Alvarez brands Gennady Golovkin "a f***ing a**hole" ahead of trilogy bout

Canelo Alvarez has continued his feud with Gennady Golovkin ahead of their trilogy fight by labelling his rival "a f***ing a**hole".

The undisputed super-middleweight champion will settle his rivalry with Golovkin on September 17 as he looks to bounce back from defeat to Dmitry Bivol. Alvarez and Golovkin exchanged barbs before the trilogy was announced with the former suggesting their feud is personal.

The Mexican has now launched a fresh rant at his foe in which he accused him of being two-faced, telling TMZ Sports : "He's not honest, he's a f***ing a**hole. He pretends to be a good person but he talks a lot of s*** about me. He'll say, 'I respect him, his career' and in other parts he'll say 'he's an embarrassing boxer, he's embarrassing for Mexican boxing.' I hate that motherf***er because of that.

The pair's first meeting in 2017 ended in a majority draw whilst Alvarez took a split decision in the 2018 rematch. Both results were controversial, so Alvarez is looking for a more decisive win in the third encounter.

"I think it's good for my legacy and the people too because the people want to see this fight," he added. "I've had big fights and I like to be involved in these kind of fights. . I think I've done better than him [since the rematch] for sure. We've had 12 good rounds, but my goal is to end this fight before the 12th round."

Alvarez and Golovkin came face-to-face at a press conference in Los Angeles last month ahead of the trilogy fight. The Mexican insisted that his rival puts on a front when talking to the media and "pretends" to be a nice person.

"I don't pretend to be another person or say things in media or in other places and come here and pretend I didn't' say anything or I don't want to say anything. It's personal for me because he talked a lot of things. He's two different people, that's why it's personal and I just can't wait to be in that ring," Alvarez said

"He pretends to be a nice guy but he's not, he's an a**hole. That's what he is. He pretends to be a nice guy and says 'Oh, yes, I'm just looking for the fight, I'm happy' and then in other places he talks a lot of s***. It is what it is. Just be a man and say what you say."
