Five people have been killed in a shooting after a gunman opened fire in a building in Canada before the suspect also died at the scene.
The incident happened in the city of Vaughan, around 18 miles north of Toronto, Ontario on Sunday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of shots being fired in a condo building in the city.
York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween confirmed five people have been killed, plus the gunman.
He added that another victim has been transported to hospital but is expected to survive.
Police said the suspect was dead "following an interaction with police".

York Regional Police Constable Laura Nicolle described the incident as the “most terrible call I’ve seen in my entire career".
Nicolle said the shooting left "a lot of people" displaced from their homes as police conduct their investigation.
"We want to make sure that [they] know that they're going to be safe and that we get them back into their home as quickly as we can," she said, noting that the condo building remains an "active, ongoing scene".
Police said next of kin are still being contacted, so specific information cannot be released at this time.
"We're in the process right now of doing notifications to those families, so at this point I can't share any information on the victims or the subject," MacSween said.

Police said in an earlier statement on the incident: "Police presence at a condo building in the area of Jane and Rutherford after several people were shot.
"Multiple victims, one male suspect. The suspect is deceased following an interaction with police. SIU will be notified. Updates to follow."
