Canada is prepared to retaliate against the United States with tariffs of its own in response to the 25% tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on Canada and Mexico. Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly announced that Canada has $155 billion worth of tariffs ready, with the first tranche amounting to $30 billion.
Last month, Canada had declared its intention to implement 25% tariffs on $155 billion worth of goods in retaliation to the US tariffs. The initial phase of this response involves tariffs on $30 billion worth of goods imported from the US. This decision was made by the Canadian government in early February, and the implementation was postponed until early March following an agreement between both countries.
