Poundland isn’t somewhere we’d naturally think to go for interior design pieces, but the budget retailer's new range of homewares is causing a stir in the design world — as they're very similar to some much pricier items.
Best known for its budget buys, high street store Poundland has released a new range of interiors accessories that could be confused for some that cost almost eighty times as much.
Strikingly similar to other high street and designer retailers including Liberty and John Lewis, Poundland’s versions are a fraction of the price, at just £1 per piece, and there are some on-trend pieces you might want to snap up.
A cactus vase resembling one sold in both the Conran Shop and John Lewis is available at Poundland for less than your bus fare.
From the ombré vase that's a knockdown version of one priced at £79, to the gold rim wine glasses that look just like Amara’s £61 set, you’ll be able to collect them all.
The homewares include mugs in on-trend millennial pink, succulents and quirky vases in the shape of zebras, for the same value price.
"We understand shoppers are looking for great pieces that will give their homes a fresh, new look without breaking the bank," say Poundland.
"Money is tight for a lot of people, so simple home updates like a beautiful framed print or a quirky vase are the perfect solution."
"The range offers great quality finds at a fraction of the price of other retailers. There’s also a nod to some of the biggest homewares trends around for example, the Terrazzo and Botanicals trends, so customers can pick up great design ideas without the whopping price tag."
The budget shop promises to keep adding new lines throughout the year costing less than the price of a cup of tea.
But not everyone's convinced by Poundland's bargain basement approach to interior decorating.
Henrietta Klug, buying director at The Conran Shop, says it can be worth splurging on higher quality products for their lasting style.
"Though a bit of an investment, these pieces represent a mix of style, high-quality materials, creative vision and brilliant craftmanship that will add a luxurious feel to your home and last you a lifetime," she adds.
"A piece that features a unique design, is a first or special edition, or part of a very small collection will never lose value over time. These are true future collectibles."
