Manchester Town Hall is practically unrecognisable at the moment. It's under a blanket of scaffolding and protective material, waiting to be unwrapped after the team of hundreds of restorers finish their work next year.
As Adam Maidment wrote in the MEN earlier this month, the work "will see the Victorian institution, which dates back to 1877, renovated from top to bottom and made 'future proof' for years to come."

It'll be worth the wait, but in the meantime the city landmark is hidden from view. If you didn't know what was under there, you'd have no idea what it looked like.
