Can the Warriors trust Draymond Green?

Draymond Green was ejected from the Golden State Warriors win over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday (March 27). It was the veteran forward’s fourth ejection of the season. He has also served two suspensions. His antics left the Warriors short-handed in a game they needed to win as they looked to keep pace with the surging Houston Rockets.

During Thursday’s (March 28) episode of ESPN’s First Take, Jay Williams shared his belief that the Warriors can no longer trust Green. He noted how the veteran forward has let his team down on multiple occasions this season.

“He’s unstable,” Williams said. “That’s honest to say. That’s being transparent…There’s no doubt that Draymond is super talented…He’s a walking contradiction…It’s several months ago that he missed 16 games, and how big of a deal that was.”

As Green continues to antagonize opposing players and game officials, he is also giving the media more reason to question his viability as a star on a contending team. Green is supposed to be the emotional leader for the Warriors roster. Yet his actions this season have weighed them down rather than built them up.

If the Warriors do qualify for the play-in tournament, they will need the best version of Green. He will need to walk the line between being competitive and overstepping the mark. He has struggled with that differentiation this season. Warriors fans will be hoping he can figure it out in the near future.
