Can the Warriors avoid the play-in tournament

The Golden State Warriors currently sit 10th in the Western Conference, which is the final seeding into the NBA play-in tournament. If the season was to end today, Steve Kerr‘s team would need to win two straight games to qualify for the postseason. They only need to win one game if they finish seventh or eighth.

However, Golden State’s goal is likely to avoid the play-in tournament completely. That would require finishing as the sixth seed or higher in the West. Currently, the Phoenix Suns occupy that spot and are three and a half games ahead of Golden State with a shade under 20 games remaining.

In a recent episode of “The Hoop Collective,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst discussed the Warriors’ chances of avoiding the dreaded play-in tournament and directly qualifying for the playoffs.

The Warriors have a tough task in the coming weeks. However, it’s hard to bet against a roster that contains four future Hall of Fame talents. Still, if they want to make a push for the sixth seed, they need to string a strong run of wins together sooner rather than later.
