Kristaps Porzingis has made a big impact in the Boston Celtics opening two games. The floor-spacing big man has already begun to show why Brad Stevens parted ways with Marcus Smart to get a deal over the line and already looks like one of the most talented players on the team’s roster.
Boston hasn’t had a big man like Porzingis before. His modern skillset and two-way ability will be integral to the Celtics’ chances of success, both in the regular season and in the playoffs. Colin Cowherd believes that Porzingis could be such a difference-maker over the duration of his contract that he can carve out a legendary status among Celtics fans.
Porzingis will need to help the Celtics lift their first championship since 2008 to have any chance of becoming a legendary figure with Celtics fans. He would need to factor into multiple championship runs to cement himself as a key figure for the league’s most storied franchise.
After two games, it’s far too early to begin discussing legacies. But, the opportunity for Porzingis is there for everyone to see.
