The Boston Celtics picked up Arkansas Razorbacks forward Jordan Walsh with the No. 38 pick in the 2023 draft. The storied ball club hopes that one day, Walsh can bring a modicum of the defensive tenacity that veteran point guard Marcus Smart brought to the team during his nine-season tenure with the Celtics.
The 6-foot-7 Texan is known for his intensity, defensive skills, and hustle plays on the basketball court, with the potential to guard multiple positions on the court at the NBA level. While his offensive game is raw, he has the opportunity to develop as a 3-point shooter.
However, it will be challenging for Walsh to fully replace Smart’s hustle, grit, and defensive prowess — or anyone else, for that matter.
But Walsh has plenty to like as a prospect; check out the clip embedded above from the folks behind the Hoops Empire YouTube channel to hear more about him.
