Can Chip Gear Giant KLA Tencor Get Its Mojo Back?

After a 315% climb since the Covid crash low at the end of March 2020, leading chip equipment maker KLA Tencor's stock slid early this year amid the bear market. But on Monday KLA Tencor stock's Relative Strength Rating rose to 72, up from 64 a day before. Additionally, its stock climbed above its 50-day line Friday.

The 72 RS Rating shows that KLA Tencor stock has outperformed 72% of all stocks over the past year. It's a compelling jump because market research has found that the best-performing stocks often have an RS Rating above 80 as they launch their largest price moves. KLA Tencor Profits Growing Like A Weed

Among its other key ratings Milpitas, Calif.-based KLA has a terrific 97 EPS Rating. of a best-possible 99, putting it in the top 3% of all companies for recent quarters and years profit growth.

The company makes process control and yield management systems for chipmakers, nanoelectronics, LED and data storage systems makers among others. Products made with its chip gear go into artificial intelligence systems, solar and other green energy systems, network servers and other products.

KLA Tencor stock eased fractionally Monday to 338.59, in sync with market consolidation. It's not currently near a potential buy zone. See if the stock goes on to build a base that could launch a new move.

KLA Tencor recorded 33% earnings growth in the latest quarterly report, to $5.13 per share. The prior three quarters its EPS jumped 63%, 53% and then 73%. Revenue last quarter climbed 27% to $2.29 billion. Although that's hearty growth, that's not its strongest growth recently. It reported 32%, 35% and 43% year-over-year sales gains the prior three stanzas.

KLA Tencor earns the No. 3 rank among its peers in the Electronics-Semiconductor Equipment industry group. Axcelis Technologies and CMC Materials are also among the group's highest-rated stocks.
