Campaigns React To Iran's Missile Attack On Israel

On Tuesday afternoon, the campaigns of Sen. JD Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz were closely monitoring the aftermath of Iran's recent missile attack on Israel. Both camps were preparing to assess how this event might influence their upcoming debate.

Following the attack, former President Donald Trump suggested that it occurred due to a lack of respect for the United States. Sources indicated that Vance may use this argument during the debate as a critique of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Regarding the debate itself, Trump has expressed confidence in Vance's performance. However, Trump has also been focused on criticizing Walz rather than solely supporting Vance. He hinted at providing a detailed commentary on his reactions to the debate.

Vance plans to emulate his running mate's strategy by heading to the spin room after the debate. Unlike Trump, Vance's team had decided in advance that he would participate in the spin room activities regardless of the debate's outcome.

Both Walz and Vance, along with other US officials, are expected to denounce the Iranian missile attack on Israel. Vance is likely to align with Trump's stance, while Walz may adopt a more nuanced approach due to Harris' association with the Biden administration. However, aides mentioned that Walz will caution against potential 'chaos' in a second Trump term.
