Cammy Devlin eyes 'super special' Hearts Edinburgh derby win over Hibs for skipper Craig Gordon

Cammy Devlin admits a Hearts derby win for Craig Gordon would be 'super special'.

The Jambos and Scotland No1 suffered a season ending leg break during the Christmas Eve clash with Dundee United as his recovery process from the horror injury gets under way. The skipper met up with his team-mates yesterday ahead of the derby in a major boost to the Gorgie club.

Robbie Neilson's men are third in the Premiership standings and can further strengthen their grip on the best of the rest spot while hand Lee Johnson and Co a major blow in their attempts to end the season in the European places with a triumph at Tynecastle. Devlin and his Hearts pals won't need any further motivation than the derby itself but he admits it was brilliant to see Gordon, 40, in the build-up as he bids to pick up all three points in dedication to the veteran stopper.

On his visit, he said: "100 per cent it was great for us. It was devastating what happened to Craig. We are all gutted for him. So it was great to have him in and about the boys before the derby.

“Yes, absolutely. To win the derby for him would be super special.”

He added: “We want to give our fans something to cheer about going into the New Year and I can’t wait. I relish these games, I absolutely love them, the atmosphere around them and everything that goes with it.

"A derby has just that little bit more. We can go into the game very confident.”
