Hearts hero Cammy Devlin was reduced to tears after he was told he had made Australia's 26-man squad for the World Cup.
Socceroos boss Graham Arnold revealed it was an emotional moment for the Tynecastle favourite who will be aiming to make a stirring impact at the showpiece event in Qatar. And the moment he got the call has been highlighted by his national team manager to underline how much it means to those starring for Australia.
Devlin only has one cap for his country but will be aiming for more when his team take on France, Tunisia and Denmark in Group D in two weeks’ time. There's more joy for the Jambos will be joined by his Hearts team-mates Nathaniel Atkinson and Kye Rowles plus Hibs' Martin Boyle, Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy and Dundee United's Aziz Behich. Tom Rogic won't be going to Qatar, however, Jason Cummings has made the cut.
Arnold, reacting to Devlin's World Cup tears of joy, said: "The great stories, when you ring up a kid like Cammy Devlin, whose doing exceptionally well at Hearts, and ask him what he's doing over the next few weeks? The kid says, 'I don't know where I need to be at that moment', and I say 'you're going to come to Qatar'. He breaks down in tears.
"Letting these kids fulfil their dreams is incredible. Those stories and those moments are great. The hard stories outweigh them a little bit at the moment but once we see those boys we will be right."
