Camilla is officially called Queen for first time on invitation to Charles' Coronation

Camilla will now be known as Queen, the Palace have officially revealed for the first time on the official invitation to King's coronation.

Seven months after the death of the late Monarch, Camilla's title will change forever.

The official coronation invitation, designed by Andrew Jamieson, a heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator, names King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Mr Jamieson is a Brother of the Art Workers’ Guild, of which The King is an Honorary Member.

Camilla will now be known in future simply as Queen Camilla.

A senior Palace source said: "It made sense to refer to Her Majesty as The Queen Consort in the early months of His Majesty’s reign, to distinguish from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"'Queen Camilla’ is the appropriate title to set against ‘King Charles’ on the invitation.

"The Coronation is an appropriate time to start using ‘Queen Camilla’ in an official capacity.

"All former Queen Consorts have been known as ‘Queen’ plus their first name."

The royal family website will be changed from Queen Consort to Queen after the coronation.

In the newly released picture Camilla wears a Fiona Clare dress with diamond clasp pearl necklace.

The late Queen Elizabeth II last February expressed her “sincere wish” that her daughter-in-law would be known as Queen Consort when Charles became King.

A year later this February Camilla launched the Queen’s Reading Room – without the “Consort” – when she updated the name of her charity, the Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room.

King Charles' Coronation will take place on May 6 as final preparations are made with the ceremony four weeks away.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still yet to publicly confirm whether they will be part of the congregation at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
