Camilla hurt after Prince Harry called her ‘dangerous’ in controversial memoir

Camilla has been left “hurt” after Prince Harry called her a “villain” in his controversial memoir Spare, a close friend of the Queen Consort has said.

In the book, Harry, 38, said he and his brother William begged Charles not to marry Camilla amid fears she would be a “wicked stepmother”.

He also branded her “dangerous" and accused her of sacrificing him on her own “personal PR altar".

In the book, the Duke of Sussex accused Camilla of leaking negative stories about him to the press in a bid to boost her own reputation.

Lady Lansdowne, 68, who is godmother to Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopes, said the Queen Consort was upset by the comments.

She told The Sunday Times: “Of course it bothers her, of course it hurts.

“But she doesn’t let it get to her.

“Her philosophy is always, ‘Don’t make a thing of it and it will settle down — least said, soonest mended.’”

Harry and Camilla are set to come face to face for the first time since the book was released at the King’s coronation next month.

The Duke of Sussex will travel alone to the event while his wife Meghan stays in California with their children Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 1.

Relations between Harry, his father and Prince William were said to be at an all-time low following the publication of Spare and a series of publicity interviews in which he attacked the royals earlier this year.

In the book, Harry criticised Charles’s parenting, said the King was jealous of Meghan and the Princess of Wales and also accused William of physically attacking him.

In a later interview, Harry said he had left some stories about the King and William out of the book. He said: “It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out.”
