Kate Middleton and Queen Consort Camilla Parker-Bowles could be seen wearing a special brooch in tribute to the Queen yesterday at a lavish state banquet.
The two highest-ranking females within The Firm both donned the badge of the Royal Family Order of Elizabeth II at a white-tie event on Tuesday evening.
King Charles III held the event in Buckingham Palace to mark the state visit of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Signifying an historic honour awarded to the women due to their senior positions in the Royal Family, the small diamond-encrusted brooch includes an icon of a young Queen Elizabeth II in evening dress wearing the ribbon and star of the Order of the Garter.
It also features a small red enamel Tudor Crown at the top. Both women wore the piece along with its chartreuse yellow ribbon.
The Princess of Wales was also seen in one of Diana's favourite tiaras, the Lover's Knot, as she attended a state occasion for the first time in her new role.
The diamond and pearl-encrusted headpiece made in 1914 was often worn by her mother-in-law.
She wore a caped, white Jenny Packham floor-length evening dress with sparkling detail on the shoulders, along with a four-strand pearl bracelet belonging to the late Queen Elizabeth II and Diana's diamond and pearl drop earrings.
Queen Consort Camilla meanwhile wore the Queen's sapphire tiara, sometimes known as the King George VI Victorian Sapphire Suite.
At the dinner, the King recalled his mother's great fondness for South Africa in a good-humoured speech.
Recalling previous visits by South African leaders, he said President Ramaphosa's state visit being his first was "particularly moving and special" given it was in in Cape Town where the Queen pledged her service to the Commonwealth back in 1947.
He also offered his "belated but very best wishes" for the President's birthday last week. Queen Elizabeth has previously welcomed Presidents Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma on state visits to the United Kingdom.
