Fame doesn't guarantee recognition. While the faces of many celebrities are everywhere, it doesn't mean they're always recognized—or that they aren't confused with others. Despite her global fame, Camila Cabello is no exception. The Cuban-Mexican singer recently shared in an interview with Sirius XM some amusing fan encounters, revealing the artists she's most often mistaken for.
Camila explained that people sometimes approach her on the street for a photo, even when they don't know who she is. She recounted a moment when someone confused her with a celebrity named Ariana. It's unclear whether she meant Ariana Grande or Ariana Greenblatt.
"This guy's like, 'Ariana! I know exactly who you are!' and I kind of toying with him, I was like 'Really? Who do you think I am?' And he's, 'You're a movie star, Ariana I have to take a picture with you!'" Camila shared, laughing during the interview.
But "Ariana" isn't the only celebrity Camila has been mistaken for. During the same interview, she recalled an experience in Dubai where someone thought she was Selena Gomez. "This girl came up to me and said, 'Selena Gomez!'" Camila recounted.
She added that confusions don't stop there, mentioning she's also been confused with iconic Spanish stars Penélope Cruz and Rosalía. Camila acknowledged that the mix-up with Rosalía and Selena made sense to her.
When asked by the interviewers if these situations bothered her or if she played along, Camila replied with her trademark humor. She admitted it depended on the situation but enjoyed making fans happy.
"It depends. If they want to take a picture, I will be like, 'F*ck it, whatever, I'll be your Ariana, I'll make your night,'" she said, eliciting laughs from the radio hosts.
Previously, Camila had also been compared to Sabrina Carpenter in a different, slightly controversial context. During the rebranding for her latest album 'XOXO, C,' fans accused her of imitating Sabrina after dyeing her hair blonde, sparking comparisons to the 'Espresso' singer.
Despite these mix-ups, Camila knows how to handle such situations with humor, brightening her fans' day even when they mistake her for someone else. Rather than feeling annoyed, the Latina artist has once again shown why she's beloved not only by her fans but also by her peers in the industry.
Still, it's surprising that someone as charismatic and well-known as Camila could be confused with other stars. What about you—who do you think Camila resembles most?
