Camila Cabello reveals all about Shawn Mendes split in brutal breakup song

Camila Cabello has pulled back the curtains on her break-up with Shawn Mendes with a new song that if full of heartache and pain.

The 24-year-old Cuban pop beauty was in a very PDA filled relationship with Canadian pop hunk Shawn, 23, from 2019 until last year.

And while the duo have been relatively tight lipped about their break up, it seems that Camila is delving into the despair of a broken romance to find lyrics for her new song, Bam Bam.

The former Fifth Harmony band member has written all about broken promises, the perils of adulthood and the importance of moving on in the new track.

Lyrics have been revealed to include the telling lines: "You said you hated the ocean but you're surfing now / I said I love you for life but I just sold our house.

"We were kids at the start, I guess we're grown-ups now. Couldn't ever imagine even having doubts / But not everything works out.

“Now I'm out dancing with strangers, you could be casually dating / Damn, it's all changing so fast."

While the chorus of the new song adds: "Love came around and it knocked me down but I'm back on my feet."

Camila and Shawn shocked fans last November when they announced they were breaking up after two and a half years of dating.

They released a joint statement via social media which declared that they would remain friends, but that the love that once existed between them – and provoked very sloppy kisses in public places – was all over.
The message read: “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.

“We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward. Camila and Shawn.”

Shawn has already released his own break-up song following the split – unleashing a track titled It’ll Be Ok last December just weeks after parting ways with Camila.

The following month, the singer revealed he was having a “hard time” dealing with the collapse of his relationship.

Addressing fans via Instagram, he said: "I just wanted to make a little video and say thank you to everybody who has been connecting with 'It'll Be Okay' and posting videos.

"I'm having a little bit of a hard time with social media at the moment and just kind of my relationship with it."

He continued: "When I make music, the ultimate goal is to be sitting there and have my own truth revealed to me.

"And a lot of the time when I'm writing songs I'm usually using music as a platform to be able to get to a place inside of myself that I wouldn't be able to through just talking with people or thinking about it."
