Camila Cabello's tweet criticising fans at the Champions League final has since been deleted after the singer received a less than enthusiastic welcome in Paris on Saturday.
Not only was the performance met by booing, but scenes before and after the match were mired in controversy.
Kick-off was delayed by 36 minutes as fans were unable to gain access to the Stade de France, and after the final, chaos erupted as police fired tear gas at fans, the Mirror reported.
During the performance on Saturday, parts of the audience booed or sang over the Cuban-born singer, much to her disappointment.
"Playing back our performance and I can't believe people were singing their teams anthem so loud during our performance. Like my team and I worked tirelessly for so long to bring right vibes and give a good show," a tweet from Camila's account read.
"Very rude but whatever. IM GLAD YOU GUYS LOVED IT."
According to Metro, the post was deleted because someone other than Camila had posted it in error.
"It was deleted because someone who has access to Camila's account posted it intending to post on their own account," a source claimed.
The situation was in stark contrast to events in 2018, the last time Real Madrid and Liverpool met in a Champions League final.
Back then, the Liverpool supporters warmed to opening ceremony performer Dua Lipa and some have even adopted her song 'One Kiss' as an unofficial anthem.
After Camila's performance, the game eventually got underway more than half an hour later than the scheduled start time of 9pm local time.
Considering the scenes impacting supporters on the concourse in Saint-Denis, the result (a 1-0 victory for Real Madrid) was secondary for some fans more worried about their own safety and that of their fellow attendees.
Fans were kept out of the ground, with UEFA claiming "fake tickets" were to blame, although those with legitimate tickets were impacted.
Some supporters reported waiting several hours to enter the ground despite arriving in plenty of time for kick-off.
There was also alarming footage of police using tear gas on those who had travelled to Paris to watch their team in action.
In addition to tear gas being used, there were reports of muggings and attacks after the game.
Former Liverpool star Jason McAteer claimed his wife and son were impacted, while ex-Reds defender Jose Enrique spent Sunday sharing first-hand reports of events outside the Stade de France.
"The Liverpool fans are special. The way they were treated by authorities was an absolute joke," said former Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish who also spoke out.
"Nobody should ever be afraid to go to a football game. Thank you to everyone who came to Paris. The Fan Park was unbelievable. I hope you all get home safe. What a season! YNWA," he added.
