Cameron Carter Vickers snubs Celtic treble talk as he warns of facing different Kilmarnock at Hampden

Cameron Carter-Vickers says Celtic have their eyes fixed firmly on retaining the Viaplay Cup. And the USA star is adamant it’s one job at a time as he insisted Treble notions have not even entered his head.

The Parkhead side continue the defence of the Viaplay when facing Kilmarnock in Saturday’s semi-final at Hampden. Carter-Vickers insists every prize is important to Ange Postecoglou’s team and said: “We are all aware at Celtic that you are expected to win everything.

“We are going to go into that game fully focused and do our best to get into that Final. Every competition that we compete in, we want to win games, we want to win the trophy. 100 per cent. That one is no different.”

With a commanding lead in the title race and a Scottish Cup to contest, lifting the Viaplay trophy could give Celtic the first leg of a domestic treble.

Postecoglou knows winning everything is the remit at the club and Carter-Vickers also acknowledges that fact. But the defender won't let his thoughts get too far ahead and, when asked if triple success was in the mind at this stage of the campaign, he said: “Not really. For us, it is just about taking a game at a time and focusing on our performance. Hopefully we can continue to perform at the level we have done and maybe improve on that if possible.”

Celtic defeated Killie 2-0 at the weekend in the final game before the Hampden tie. But Carter-Vickers insists the contest has no bearing on the last-four clash as he said: “I think cup games are always a bit different, in general. It is going to be at Hampden Park which is a neutral stadium. It is a semi-final, too. So I don’t think it will have any bearing on it.”
